“Love‧Continued” Kick-off Ceremony

The “Love‧Continued” Kick-off Ceremony was held at Tai Kwun, a declared monument, on 21 October 2018, with the presence of over 300 guests.

Mr. Alfred Hui, “Love‧Continued” Ambassador; Mr. David Ho, Head of Chinese Programme Service; Mr. Eric Tsang, Director of HKOTF; Dr. Kelvin Ho, Founding President of HKOTF; Prof. Sophia Chan, Secretary for Food and Health; Prof. John Leung, Chairman of the Hospital Authority; Dr. Honorable Pierre Chan, Legislative Council Member officiated the commencement of the “Love‧Continued” Secondary Schools Short Video Competition.

“Love‧Continued” Video Stars Mr. Carlos Chan, Ms. Hana Tam, and Ms. Tsang Lok Tung shared their own experience on short video production.

Prof S.C. Chan, Vice-President of HKOTF, expressed the ups and downs in life through music performances.

A kick-off ceremony was held at Tai Kwun on 21 October 2018 (Sunday) to announce the launching of the“Love‧Continued” Organ Donation Promotion Program   and the commencement of the “Love‧Continued” Secondary Schools Short Video Competition as well as other promotional activities. Prof. Sophia Chan, Secretary for Food and Health officiated the ceremony with Dr. Kelvin Ho, Founding President of HKOTF; Mr. Eric Tsang, Board of Director of HKOTF; Prof. John Leung, Chairman of Hospital Authority; Dr. Pierre Chan, Legislative Council Member; Mr. David Ho, Head of Chinese Programme Service and Mr. Alfred Hui, “Love‧Continued” Ambassador. The Love‧Continued” Secondary Schools Short Video Competition was then opened for application.

In the opening speech, Prof. Sophia Chan said that only 290 000 registration was recorded on the Centralized Organ Donation Register out of over 7 million population, which was a very small portion. The Government and Hospital Authority had been striving to promote organ donation while the efforts made by the Foundation and the community in educating the public were also very important. She appreciated the Foundation’s  work in schools and hoped that the registration rate would continue to increase with the support of the community. “I express my gratitude to organ donors’ dedication to bring a new life to the patients.” Prof. Sophia Chan sent her appreciation to the donors in her speech.

“Organ transplant is the only way to bring new life to patients with organ failure and their family members”, said Dr. Kelvin Ho in his speech. He said that Hong Kong’s organ donation promotion was still at the starting stage and there was still a long way to go. He hoped the younger generation could use new ways to spread the message of organ donation to friends, family and the community through joining the “Love‧Continued” Secondary Schools Short Video Competition.

Mr. David Ho said life was inevitably full of ups and downs but love could help overcome the difficulties. He wished that the campaign could help spread the message of love and health to Hong Kong people.

Organ recipients Miss. So Tsz-ling and Mr. Ip Chi-yin; Prof S.C. Chan, Vice-President of HKOTF; and Kids’ Dream Choir expressed the ups and downs in life through music performances. Miss. So Tsz-ling, a 17-year-old girl and a 6- year old boy awaiting for kidney transplant shared their stories to encourage public support for organ donation.
