In 2018/19, HKOTF has continued its effort in organizing different activities to raise public awareness and knowledge towards organ donation. The latest Annual Report has set out the work of HKOTF in 2018/19. It is now made available on our website for public access.
It was the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Centralized Organ Donation Register in 2018. HKOTF collaborated with RTHK Radio 1 to launch the “Love‧Continued” campaign, with an aim to promulgate positive message of organ donation to our community through a series of activities, including Secondary Schools Short Video Competition and radio promotion activities.
The “Oral History Project of Organ Donation and Transplant in Hong Kong” commenced in late 2017 was accomplished in 2018/19. Facilitated by over 80 students from Department of History of Hong Kong Baptist University, Heep Yunn School, Queen Elizabeth School and Wa Ying College, 18 stakeholders who were involved in Hong Kong organ donation and transplant history since the 60s were interviewed. HKOTF complied a book named “Love‧Continued – Hong Kong Organ Donation and Transplant Oral History for 50 years” based on the stories of the 18 interviewees. The new book published by Joint Publishing (HK) was launched in July 2019 at the “50th Anniversary of Organ Transplant History in HK” ceremony held in Queen Mary Hospital. It is now available for sale at major bookstores.
