HKOTF strives to deliver knowledge on organ donation to the younger generation through education. In 2016/2017, HKOTF published “Organ Donation:The Legacy of Love”, a teaching toolkit available for distribution to secondary schools free of charge in both Chinese and English versions. As of today, the toolkits have been delivered to over 470 secondary schools.
The toolkit is intended to help the younger generation develop positive attitude towards organ donation, through collaboration with the education sector. After publishing the toolkit, HKOTF launched a series of activities to promulgate the toolkit and the method of using it, including press conference, kick-off ceremony, and workshop organized for teachers.
The Toolkit consists of three Units. Unit One covers knowledge of organ donation which includes an overview of organ donation in Hong Kong, donation and transplantation process, organ distribution mechanism, the donation system and policy, the historical development and prospects etc. Unit Two includes sharing of real life cases through interviews with organ donors, recipients, and medical personnel. Unit Three covers views of six major religions on organ donation as well as perspectives from traditional Chinese culture.
The Toolkit includes teaching materials, workbook, powerpoint, and case videos. Interested parties may apply for a copy using the form below. Once an application is received, HKOTF will contact you for collection arrangement.
