On 10 Oct 2016, HKOTF organized “Organ Donation：The Legacy of Love” Tool Kit Kick-off Ceremony cum Exhibition at Olympian City. The Ceremony invited Dr. Ko Wing Man, the then-Secretary for Food and Health; Prof. Gabriel Leung, the Dean of Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong; Dr. Anne Fung, Assistant Directors, Department of Health; Mr. Kwan Pak Keong, the then- Chief Curriculum Development Officer (Moral, Civic and National Education), Education Bureau, Dr. Kelvin Ho, the President of HKOTF, Prof. Chan See Ching, the Vice-president of HKOTF, Mr. Lincoln Yu, the Vice-president of HKOTF, Ms. Jaime Chik, the ambassador of HKOTF, and Mr. Eric Tsang, the Director of HKOTF, promised to support organ donation and other representatives from education, medical, and religious sectors to join the event to witness the launching of the tool kit.

Dr. Kelvin Ho, the President of HKOTF, stated that the low organ donation rate in Hong Kong has resulted in loss of life of patients suffering from organ failure. HKOTF is dedicated to promote organ donation and the spirit of selfless love to the younger generation through education.

Dr. Ko Wing Man, the then-Secretary for Food and Health, stressed the importance of communication to the success of organ donation, as family members seldom objected to donate organs of the deceased who had registered in the Centralised Organ Donation Register (CODR. At that time, only 220,000 out of a population of 7,000,000 had registered in CODR. He hoped that different community sectors could join effort to continue the promotion of organ donation.

Representatives of 6 major religions, namely Taoism, Confucianism, Buddhism, Catholicism, Christianity and Islam shared their perspectives on the meaning of life and organ donation.  

The highlights of the Tool Kit, including the data and procedure of organ donation in Hong Kong, the religious viewpoint and story clips, were presented in the Ceremony.
