Organ Donation Promotional Activity Program

Following the completion of Phase I “Angels for Life” Program, Phase II of the Program commenced in December 2017. Education Bureau was invited as the supporting organization in phase II. 83 students from 10 secondary schools participated and became “Angels for Life” to promote organ donation in schools, families or communities by organizing over 40 creative activities, including stall games, quizzes and design competitions. 3 schools with outstanding performance were nominated as “Top Teen” and the result was announced in the Sharing Day cum Award-presentation Ceremony on 7th July 2018.

Students of Yu Chun Keung Memorial College set up a stall to introduce to the Ho Man Tin residents the importance of organ donation and the long waiting list for organ transplant.

Students of Lingnan Hang Yee Memorial Secondary School adopted organ donation system as a theme in producing a video about a rethink on what action the Government should take to increase donation rate. 

St. Catharine’s School for Girls invited organ recipients to share their life experience after transplantation.

Students of Hong Kong Teachers’ Association Lee Heng Kwei Secondary School set up a game booth in their school hall to encourage their schoolmates to support patients who were waiting for organ transplant.

“Angels for Life” Award-presentation and Sharing Ceremony

Guests, Members, and participating schools of Phase II of the Program took a photo at the end of the event.

Representatives from Education Bureau and Department of Health, along with other guests, attended the “Angels for Life” Award-presentation and Sharing Ceremony, where the “Angels for life” shared their experiences in organizing community promotional activities. The Ceremony also represented a completion of the whole learning process. During the sharing session, the 10 teams of “Angels for Life” had impressed the judges and guests by their sincerity and creativity. Among all the participating teams, CMA Secondary School, St. Catharine’s School for Girls and Yan Chai Hospital Wong Wha San Secondary School were selected as “Top Teen” with their outstanding performance and were awarded with trophies. All participating students received certificates as a recognition of their great effort.

Highlights of the event

Mrs. Ho Wong Shiu Fung, Alice, Senior Curriculum Development Officer of EDB, Dr. So Man Chit, Amen, Senior Medical & Health Officer of FHB, Dr. Chau Ka Foon, the Honorary President of Hong Kong Transplant Sports Association, and Mr. Yip Wing Tong, the president of The Hong Kong Liver Transplant Patients’ Association attended the Ceremony with other guests and Executive Members of HKOTF.

During the presentation, students of Yan Chai Hospital Wong Wha San Secondary School distributed a pamphlet that summarized their promotional activities conducted in the community.

At the ceremony, students of St. Peter’s Secondary School shared their experience in carrying out promotional activities in the community.
